Work crews from the Texas Department of Transportation were in Perryton this week to upgrade the traffic signals at the corner of Main and 15th.

Summer crops conference is Feb. 9

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Ochiltree and Lipscomb counties will host the Northeast Panhandle Summer Crops Conference on Feb. 9 at the Ochiltree County Expo Center, 402 Expo Drive, Perryton.

CrimeStoppers ‘Fast Cash’

On Jan. 27, 2021, the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department had outstanding warrants on the following people: Shyan Michelle Aylor, white female. Date of birth, Oct. 22, 1995. Height, 5’7”, weight, 120 pounds. Brown eyes, brown hair. Last known address was Liberal, KS.

Burglaries investigated

Several burglaries were investigated by local law enforcement over the week. Kristie Vasquez, 1518 Indiana, reported a television and Playstation 4 had been stolen from the residence, they were valued at around $690. Javier Mena reported his business at 1102 S. Main, had been burglarized.

At last weekend’s Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale, students were awarded Grand Champion Buckles for exhibiting the best animals.

Hospital board discusses plumbing, construction projects

The Ochiltree County Hospital District held their regular monthly meeting on Monday evening. The board spent most of the meeting focused on small-scale and routine issues, including building repair and construction, day care, and planning for the hospital’s future.

Junior livestock show tops $324,000 in sales

The Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale had another successful weekend. The sale totaled $324,468.70, which included $34,420 in add-on contributions. That topped last year’s sale by more than $112,000. Showing the grand champion steer was Victoria Wright.

County approves construction at airport

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met at the County Courthouse on Monday morning. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners approved the construction of an aviation aerial spraying facility at the Perryton-Ochiltree County Airport.

County’s active COVID-19 cases fall again

Ochiltree County’s active COVID-19 cases continued their recent downward trend this week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 stand at 43, down from 54 last Thursday afternoon.
