Perryton National Bank contributed $16,000 to purchase a new scoreboard for the Perryton High School Rangerette softball field. The Rangerettes took second place in the state powerlifting meet last week. Vanessa Chavira is also the state champion in the 165 class, her second in a row.

Maddie Schickedanz, a Perryton High School senior, showed the Reserve Grand Champion Steer at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 16. She is the daughter of Jason and Amber Schickedanz and the granddaughter of Larry and Charleen Schickedanz and Bill Philley.

The Perryton High School boys powerlifting team will also be well represented at regionals, with 21 lifters qualifying. Last week, 27 Rangerettes also qualified for regionals.

The Perryton High School girls powerlifting team has qualified an impressive 27 lifters to regionals. “We are looking to claim our eighth straight regional championship on March 2 in Big Spring,” Coach Casey Arruda said.

The PHS powerlifting teams traveled to Panhandle last weekend to compete, and both teams finished as team champions. “Both teams are made up of mostly varsity kids with a few new lifters and JV kids mixed in as well.
Glen Rose Tigers thump Rangers 70-13 to win area

Glen Rose ended the Rangers’ playoff hopes last Friday night, taking a big 7013 victory to advance the Tigers to the regional round. The area game, played in Iowa Park, started off well for the Rangers, before the wheels came off the bus.

The 3-7 Rangers were on fire last Friday night, with prolific passing and running, and a tough defense, propelling them to a big 58-27 win over the 9-1 Fort Stockton Panthers, and the bi-district title.
