Counterfeit bill reported

An attempted burglary and counterfeit money were reported during the week. An attempted break-in was reported at 10 N. Colgate. Entry was not gained, but damage was done to the front door and locks. A counterfeit $100 bill was passed at Walls, 1001 S. Ash.

Perryton High School seniors Hope De Santiago and Cuyler Feger were selected as the Rotary Club’s Students of the month for March. They, along with their parents, were guests of the club at its meeting March 10.

Elks to hold annual golf tourney The 17th Annual Elks Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, May 14, at the Perryton Municipal Golf Course. All proceeds from the tournament will go towards scholarships for area high school seniors.

AgriLife Research-Amarillo has new scientists on staff

Texas A&M AgriLife Research at Amarillo has recently filled several faculty and senior scientist positions to round out a holistic research portfolio in sustainable agriculture in the High Plains. “We’ve been down two research faculty for the past 12 to 18 months,” said Brent Auvermann, Ph.D.

County commissioners discuss vacation cap

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners discussed raising the cap on vacation days for two employees in the Sheriff’s Department.

Kiwanis Club to hold annual auction this Saturday

The Perryton Kiwanis Club will hold its 38th annual auction fund-raiser Saturday, March 19, at the Ochiltree County Expo Center. The auction is the major fund-raising event of the year for the Kiwanis Club. The sale will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

State shows small increase in county’s COVID-19 cases

The Texas Department of State Health Services is recording a slight increase in COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County. According to data from TDSHS, the county has had 115 new cases of the virus in the last 14 days, an increase of 6% over the prior 14 days.
