Texas Comptroller returns record amount in unclaimed property

The Texas Comptroller’s office approved and paid out a record $309 million in unclaimed property during the past fiscal year, Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced today. This is the third time the Comptroller’s office has returned $300 million or more in unclaimed property in a fiscal year.

Students at all schools in the Perryton Independent School District got to celebrate Friday night’s Homecoming game with dress-up days all week. At Wright Elementary, Tuesday was designated Character Day, so students dressED up as their favorite characters from fiction — and sometimes real life.

DAR CELEBRATES CONSTITUTION DAY AT WILLIAMS

Members of the local Wolf Creek chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution visited Williams Intermediate Elementary School last week to commemorate Constitution Week by delivering copies of the United States Constitution for every fifth grade classroom.

Biologists predict moderate hunting conditions ahead of white-tailed deer season

With drought affecting most of the state over the summer, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) biologists foresee a moderate season for hunters this fall.

Chamber sets cookoff, cornhole tourney The Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce will hold a chili cookoff and a cornhole tournament on Saturday, Oct. 8. The chili cookoof will be from 11:30 a.m-1 p.m. at the Expo Center. Categories are Hot and Spicy and Homestyle; chili must be homemade.
