County commissioners approve budget and tax rate

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners reviewed and discussed the county’s budget and tax rate for fiscal year 2023-24. Abrief public hearing was held on the budget.

Local volunteers for Snack Pak 4 Kids gathered recently at Williams Intermediate Elementary School to pack snacks for hungry kids. Volunteers meet every few weeks to pack snack bags with nutritious food to help food-insecure students stave off hunger.

City sales tax payment drops slightly for month

The City of Perryton’s sales tax payment for the month of September took a slight dip. The city received $247,537, down a little over 1% from last September. Its year to date payments of $2.28 million, are down 6.6% from 2022.

Perryton and Ochiltree County welcomed new rain showers on Sunday and Monday, with the rain ushering in cooler temperatures and the county’s first taste of fall. KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total was 2.93 inches. Mary Dudley, in the central part of Perryton, reported 3.20 inches of rainfall.
