Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service will host a Crop Production and Protection Seminar at the Expo Center on Thursday, Dec. 21. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with a fee of $35.

Local kids who visited the Christmas on Main celebration on Saturday evening were treated to a chance to visit with the Grinch himself, outside of Perryton Furniture.

Pathways program receives $215,000 gift

The John and Patricia Adams Foundation of Bedford continues to be a major contributor to the Pathways Scholarship Program. Recently, the foun-dation’s board of directors unanimously approved a gift of $215,000 to be distributed throughout the next four years.

City council previews building code amendments

The Perryton City Council heard a first reading on a proposed ordinance amending the building code, and approved several items related to recent grants awarded. The building code amendments replace Chapter 6 in the current code, with no significant changes.

United Way drive now at 86% of goal

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2024 fund drive has now reached 86% of its $94,300 goal, with $80,673 in donations so far. There are 13 100% Companies on the list so far, meaning every employee contributed to United Way.

United Way tornado recovery fund continues distributions

The Ochiltree United Way board continues to administer funds to help with unmet needs of property owners directly affected by the June 15 tornado. The United Way tornado committee continues to receive requests, with an additional 24 requests, totaling $47,180, approved.

Cody Devers of Perryton will compete in the National Finals Rodeo, set Dec. 7-16 in Las Vegas, NV. During his first qualification to the NFR, steer wrestler Devers was just trying to hold everything together.
