Rettes pick up road win

The Rangerette volleyball team hit the road Tuesday for a matchup against the Fort Elliot Cougars. The match was competitive but the Rettes controlled the net and served well to win in four sets. Set scores were 25-17, 25-22, 25-23 and 25-11.

PHS Cross Country

The cross country course at Lake Fryer was a very busy place on Saturday. It was the site of the annual Wolf Creek Classic meet. A total of 409 runners from all over the Panhandle competed in 10 divisions. They hoped to conquer Big Bubba and top their divisions.

Rangerette Volleyball

The Rangerette volleyball team continues to improve through the early season with pre-district play. Perryton split matches this week with a win over Sanford-Fritch High School and a loss to Miami High School. Perryton opened play against Fritch and rallied from behind to win in five sets.

Bobcats top Rangers, 35-17

The Childress Bobcats came to town Friday evening, and went home with a 35-17 victory over Perryton at Ranger Field. The Rangers had several nice drives, but six turnovers, some at critical times, hampered them finding their way into the end zone more.

PHS volleyball splits matches on Saturday

The Perryton High School volleyball team played a double header against two squads Saturday in Amarillo. Perryton opened play against the River Road Lady Wildcats, whom they had defeated in their last match by a 3-1 total.

PHS cross country starts fast in opener

The Perryton High School cross country teams opened their season Saturday at the Borger CC Invitational Meet. Both teams had an excellent opening run and ran very well to start the season.

Rangers to face Childress Friday

The Childress Bobcats will come to town this Friday night to battle the Rangers. Game time is 7 p.m. The Bobcats are 1-0 on the season, trouncing Panhandle 68-45 in a high scoring season opener. Childress is picked to finish second in District 3- 3A, DII, behind perennial powerhouse Canadian.

The Rangerette volleyball team hosted the West Texas Lady Comanches last Saturday for a closely contested match. The teams had already squared off once in the early season with West Texas securing the victory 3-2. That match was close all the way to the last serve.

The Perryton High School freshmen football teams traveled to Dalhart for a 5 p.m. game on Aug. 27 The very hot conditions were a major battle for the first game of the season. However, the freshmen Rangers came away as victors in a 44-14 win to open the 2020 season.
