Official Texas state critters

Texas has numerous official state animals. The official state bird is, of course, the mockingbird. The official large mammal is the Texas longhorn, and the official small animal is the nine-banded armadillo. The official flying mammal is the Mexican freetailed bat.

Hay bale fire, missing license plates reported

Missing license plates and a small fire were the main incidents investigated by police during the past week. Roy McCartney reported a hay bale on fire at his lot in the 600 block of SE First. He saw two juveniles at the site before they ran off.
