As various parts of the world begin to slowly reopen, people looking forward to traveling or vacationing should know that many travel insurance policies do not provide coverage for travelers who decide to cancel their plans due to concerns about a pandemic.

Rope Tricks

The blocker was a common lasso loop popularized by John Blocker, a Texas cattleman, though some credit his brother Ab with inventing the loop. The oversized loop was as good for tricks as it was for roping.

Correction In the Ochiltree County Commissioners Court story in the Thursday Herald, Stephen Holmes was incorrectly identified as the manager of Capital Farm Credit. He is the manager of Plains Land Bank. The Herald regrets the error.

With the Texas economy slowly awakening from effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds shoppers they can save money on clothes and school supplies during the state’s sales tax holiday on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 7-9.

Perryton Independent School District teachers are slowly getting their rooms ready for new students this year. Among them is Tamra Hall, a teacher at Perryton Kinder, who is hard at work making new decorations for her room. Perryton schools are set to reopen for the new school year on Monday, Aug.

School board considers financial projections for coming school year

At its meeting July 28, the Perryton School Board began financial planning for the coming year. Chief Financial Officer Doug Kile went over the current and future financial picture with the board.
