Forney, proclaimed by the Legislature as the antique capital of Texas, is getting a thoroughly modern makeover. Officials announced Amazon would build in 2021 a 1 million square-foot fulfillment center in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex suburb, bringing 500 jobs to the city of 26,000.

MOTOR PARTS DONATES TO SNACK PAK 4 KIDS

Motor Parts of Perryton recently found an interesting way to donate to Snack Pak 4 Kids. After winning a $300 United Supermarkets gift card in a drawing from the Masonic Lodge, the business decided to donate the card to Perryton’s Snack Pak 4 Kids, in memory of long-time organizer JoAnn McCoy.

Wheatheart parade winners announced

The annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade was held Aug. 22g on Main Street, where thousands of county residents turned out to enjoy the show. The Perryton Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the best entries in the parade.

July weather was hot, but saw lots of moisture

The weather in July was hot, hot, hot, but quite a bit of rain did fall during the month, according to official weather records from KEYE Radio. The month saw a total of 5.90 inches of rain, which fell on 10 days. They included July 4,.19 of an inch; July 12 and July 13, .01 of an inch; July 15, .

Third death reported in county due to COVID-19

A third death has been reported in Ochiltree County due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ochiltree General Hospital said the death is of a county resident. The hospital said the death did not take place at OGH, but at another facility.

Golf Classic winners are listed

The 2020 Perryton Golf Classic two person shamble was held Aug. 22 at the city golf course. Championship flight winners were Scott Roberson and Todd Roberson, first, 65 total gross; and Shae Cunningham and Dustin Suitor, second, 68 total gross.
