Active COVID-19 in county is back down to 20

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County dipped down to 20 this week. The county’s active cases dropped from 24 last Tuesday afternoon to 20 as of Thursday afternoon, while the total cases have gone from 137 on Tuesday to 140 on Thursday.

New cosmetology facility planned at FPC Allen Campus

Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus has announced plans to build a new facility for their cosmetology program. According to Amber Jones, dean of the Allen Campus, the Kent Kwik building across the street from the main campus will be renovated to serve as the new facility.

PJH Robotics team receives donations of money and equipment

Perryton Junior High’s new robotics program got a boost from several donations of money and equipment. On Monday, Zeb Talley, instrumentation and electrical supervisor with Phillips 66 in Tulsa announced a $5,278 donation to the robotics program.

Pampa ekes out 41-35 win

After two weeks off, the Rangers came to play, traveling to Pampa to take on the Harvesters Friday night in a road game. Perryton played tough on defense, and the offense shined at times, particularly the ground game, but the Rangers fell to Pampa 41-35 in a hard fought battle.

A stolen pickup and the theft of several items from a residence were the main crimes investigated during the week. Noe Castanon reported his pickup had been stolen from 2121 S. Drake. The vehicle is a 1997 dark green Nissan. Billy Spann, 814 S.

Museum sets brick fundraiser The Museum of the Plains is accepting sealed bids for historical paving bricks. The paving bricks came from the streets of Perryton; some still have asphalt on them. The paving bricks will be sold by sealed bid in minimum lots of 100.

The Jennie June Club’s 50th annual book sale is underway right now at the Perry Memorial Library. The club’s first book fair was a one-day sale held in 1970, and the club’s president in 1970, Evelyn Barnett, is still a member of the club today.

Randy Anderson of Lubbock, will be the first speaker in the Leadership Perryton XIX series with a presentation next week. Courson Gas Consultants, along with Leadership Perryton, is bringing Anderson back to Perryton on Thursday, Oct. 8. Registration will begin at 6 p.m.
