United Way drive sees some progress

The 2021 fund drive of the Ochiltree United Way inched toward its $90,000 goal last week, adding around $550 to its total. As of late last week, the drive had received $75,860 in contributions, which is 84% of the goal. Two of the six divisions marked increases in their individual totals.

Christmas is coming, nights are getting longer, temperatures are getting colder, and the City of Perryton’s seasonal lighting display at Whigham Park is helping brighten winter nights in the city. The lights in Whigham Park should stay lit up most nights from now through the end of the holidays.

Active COVID-19 cases drop slightly

Active cases of COVID-19 have fallen slightly in Ochiltree County. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s total COVID-19 cases now stand at 690, up from 679 on Tuesday afternoon.
