IRS expands payment agreement tools

The Internal Revenue Service has announced a number of changes designed to help struggling taxpayers impacted by COVID-19 more easily settle their tax debts with the IRS.

What’s the best way to celebrate a successful fundraiser? You put a pie in your sponsor’s face. Obviously! Ochiltree County 4-H recently completed a fundraiser for Snack Pak 4 Kids and placed second out of seven other counties running similar fundraisers.

DISTRICT CHAMPS

Ranger senior Isreal Marquez hoisted the PHS boys cross country championship trophy, while being carried by the football team, during the homecoming pep rally last Friday. The Ranger cross country team handily won the district championship with 20 points, well ahead of second place Canyon with 45.

COVID-19 tally remains high

Ochiltree County’s COVID-19 numbers remain over 100 active cases. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, there have been an overall total of 341 COVID-19 cases, up from 310 last Friday evening.

Rangers play Borger Friday

In their final district game of the season, the Rangers will travel to Borger Friday night for the 7 p.m. contest. For the past two years, the Borger-Perryton district game has been a “do or die” win to make it into the playoffs.

Social Security begins new electronic number verification service

The Social Security Administration has begun the initial rollout of its new electronic Consent Based Social Security Number (SSN) Verification (eCBSV) service. The agency is rolling out the service to selected participants through 2020, and plans on expanding the number of users in 2021.
