The benefits of having a pet are innumerable. Pets can be companions, protectors, service animals, and even help produce products that can be sold, such as eggs from chickens. While there are many positive attributes to pets, one potential concern is the impact they have on the home.

City to seek grant for more green dumpsters

The Perryton City Council approved applying for a grant to buy more green dumpsters at its meeting Monday. The city will apply for a $9,930 Regional Solid Waste Grants Program to the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission.

United Way tops 82%

The Ochiltree United Way 2021 fund drive is close to reaching its $90,000 goal after more donations came in last week. The drive has now raised $73,585, which is 82% of the goal. In addition, four new 100% Companies were added, bringing the total to 18.

Take us back...Mary Gray

Everyone in Perryton seems to know Mary Gray. She is very soft spoken and often keeps to herself. You always wonder what is going on in her mind. She prefers the company of her pets, and particularly her cat named Speedy, over people.

Vehicles burglarized

Two vehicle burglaries were investigated by police during the week. Dayton Goldsberry, 1705 S. Drake, reported his pickup had been burglarized. Taken were a radio and a subwoofer. Edward Jessie Martinez, 126 N. Grinnell, also had his vehicle burglarized. A stereo system was stolen.

Seliger files legislation to make IGC’s permanent

On Nov. 12, State Senator Kel Seliger (R-Amarillo) filed Senate Bill 177, which allows for the continued and permanent use of Individual Graduation Committees.
