Drilling permits down in November

The Railroad Commission of Texas issued a total of 382 original drilling permits in November 2020 compared to 958 in November 2019. The November 2020 total includes 321 permits to drill new oil or gas wells, three to re-enter plugged well bores, and 36 for recompletions of existing well bores.

Angel Tree donations wanted for needy kids Panhandle Crisis Center’s Angel Trees have been set up at Lowe’s, Family Dollar, Walls, and Radio Shack. To donate, simply remove an angel ornament from the tree. ON the back of each ornament, you’ll find the gender, age, and size of a specific child.

City’s sales tax payments down over 17% in 2020

The City of Perryton’s sales tax allocation took another big hit in December. The city’s payment of $197,159 was down 26.3% from December 2019. The total payments in 2020 were a little over $2.65 million, down 17.3%, or $55,040 from 2019.

United Way drive sees some progress

The 2021 fund drive of the Ochiltree United Way inched toward its $90,000 goal last week, adding around $550 to its total. As of late last week, the drive had received $75,860 in contributions, which is 84% of the goal. Two of the six divisions marked increases in their individual totals.

Christmas is coming, nights are getting longer, temperatures are getting colder, and the City of Perryton’s seasonal lighting display at Whigham Park is helping brighten winter nights in the city. The lights in Whigham Park should stay lit up most nights from now through the end of the holidays.
