Rites held for Wynn

Patricia N. Wynn, 90, of Follett, died Dec. 5, 2020. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Fairmont Cemetery with Daryl Wynn officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. She was born Dec.

Rites held for Graves

Leslie L. Graves II, 32, of Perryton, died Dec. 3, 2020. Services were held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at First Christian Church with Rev. Dan Anderson officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home.

Shoplifter reported

Local crime was mostly nonexistent during the past week. Gebo’s reported a shoplifter had taken a shirt from the store. The suspect apparently returned to the business the next day wearing the shirt in question. The offender was cited for theft and criminally trespassed from the business.

IRS warns about latest texting scam

The IRS is warning people to be aware of a new text message scam. The thief’s goal is to trick people into revealing bank account information under the guise of receiving the $1,200 Economic Impact Payment.

Growing season hemp potency testing available through AgriLife

The ability to conduct potency tests for the state’s newcomer crop – hemp – during the growing season is coming to Texas A&M AgriLife soon with the new Texas A&M AgriLife Hemp Testing Service.

PHS SINGERS ADVANCE TO AREA

Three Perryton High School choir members have advanced to Area competition. The pre-Area auditions were held virtually this year, with students recording their performances and sending them in to be judged by area choir directors on Dec. 2.

Active COVID-19 cases in county now over 200

The number of active cases of COVID-19 in Ochiltree County has risen over 200 for the first time. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s total COVID-19 cases now stand at 679, up from 602 on Thursday afternoon.
