FFA, 4-H members to show over 100 animals in junior livestock show

The 83 rd annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is slated for this weekend, Jan. 22-23, with preliminary activities beginning at mid-week. The Perryton High School FFA and the Ochiltree County 4- H members will be showing 126 animals.

Active COVID-19 cases in county continue to drop

Active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County have fallen yet again. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 stand at 57, down from 82 last Thursday afternoon.

Filing underway for school board, council candidates

Candidate filing is underway for positions up for election on the Perryton City Council and Perryton School Board. The filing period opened on Jan. 13, and will run through Friday, Feb. 12. The general election will be held Saturday, May 1 at City Hall.

City council okays increase for tapping fees

The Perryton City Council adopted an ordinance increasing gas and water meter tap fees, and called for the May general election at its meeting Tuesday. Public Works Director Brandan Knapp went over the new fees with the council. He said the last time the fees were increased was four years ago.

Perryton High School senior Jacob Schollenbarger has been named to the Texas All-State Choir. This is Schollenbarger’s second time to be named to the state choir. He was named second chair bass in the Texas All State Small School Choir at the Area Audition on Saturday, Jan. 16.
