FPC sets GED testing dates for April

Frank Phillips College Allen Campus will hold tests for the GED on April 9, 16, 23, and 30. The tests will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can register for the exam at https://ged.com/; the fee for the test is $35. Registration must be completed at least one day before the test is administered.

Rifle Club to hold Steel Challenge Match

The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly Steel Challenge Match on Sunday, April 11, at 1 p.m. at the Chuck Waller Range at Lake Fryer. Competitors will shoot two courses: 5 to Go and Pendulum. Competitors can fire 22 long rifles and pistols, pistol caliber carbines (9mm, .40, and .

Elks scholarships applications available

Applications for the Perryton Elks #2368 scholarship can be picked up Monday through Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at 4 SW 9th Street. The deadline to return applications is May 21.

Balko Lions set auction

The Balko Lions Club will hold their 46th annual consignment auction on Saturday, April 24, at 10 a.m. just east of the Balko School. Consignments will be taken through Friday, April 23, but the deadline to get on the sale bill is Monday, April 5.

Active COVID-19 cases up slightly

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County inched upwards late this week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 stand at 16, up from 15 cases on Thursday afternoon.
