PARSPA scholarship available

The Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association (PARSPA) has a scholarship available for any junior or senior in college or post graduate majoring in education and planning to become a teacher. Applications are available now, and the deadline to submit an application is June 30.

Perryton Golf Classic set

The Perryton Golf Classic will be held May 15-16. Tee of is at 10 a.m. on Saturday, and at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Entry fee is $100 per player for the two person, better ball tourney.

PHS Reunion canceled

After much thought and heavy discussion, the volunteers responsible for planning the PHS Ex-Students Ex-Teachers Reunion have decided it was too big a challenge to undertake this year, after being postponed last year due to COVID-19. The next reunion will be in 2025.

Wheat field day is set May 18 in Ochiltree County

TheT exas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service offices in Ochiltree and Lipscomb counties will host a wheat field day on May 18 inOchiltree County . Interested producers will gather at 10 a.m. at the Noon Vela Farm located 2.5 miles north of Farm-to-Market Road 759 on County Road 11.

Vela, Laxton are May students of month

Morgyn Vela and Gavin Laxton were named the May Rotary Students of the Month. They were introduced at the club’s meeting May 6. Vela is the daughter of Ramon and Brenna Vela. She has three siblings, Kynleigh, Kason and Mallee.

High speed chase ends in arrest

A high speed chase to Lipscomb County topped activity this week. Early Sunday morning, a police officer on patrol noticed a white pickup traveling east in the west bound lane in the 500 block of Brillhart. The driver of the pickup almost hit a utility pole and several road signs along the way.
