Perryton Junior High School’s sixth grade girls choir traveled to Borger High School last month to compete in the UIL choir concert and sight-reading contest, earning the sweepstakes award for scoring the highest rating in the competition.

Perryton High School students were honored and recognized Monday night for their academic achievements during the year at the Academic Awards ceremony held in the PHS auditorium. Included among the honorees were salutatorian Jocelyn Medina, at left, and valedictorian Jacob Schollenbarger.

Snack Pak 4 Kids to meet May 17

Snack Pak 4 Kids will meet Monday, May 17, at 7 p.m. at the Williams Cafeteria to pack snack bags. Masks are optional, and hand sanitizer will be provided. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 340, Perryton, TX 79070.

Church of Christ to host marriage seminar

The Church of Christ will host a marriage seminar called “God’s Blueprint for Marriage” every Sunday evening at 6 p.m. all summer long. Every session will also be available online at Church of Christ - Perryton’s Facebook page. For more information, contact the church at 806-435-5901.

Rotary flag service sign up underway

The Rotary Club is soliciting renewals and sign ups for the flag service for residents of Perryton. They will provide a 3 x 5 foot nylon flag with sewn stripes and embroidered stars to be placed at your home, business, or in group displays in the community. The flags will be displayed from 7 a.m.

Senior Citizens Center to hold shrimp boil

The Senior Citizens Center will hold a Summer Kick-Off Party fundraiser on Saturday, May 15, at 6 p.m. at 1200 SW 15th Avenue. The menu will feature a shrimp boil, potatoes, corn, sausage, coleslaw, beans, and bread pudding. Other outdoor activities will include cornhole and horseshoes.

Parkinson’s support group to meet May 14

The Perryton Area Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will meet May 14 at New Hope Fellowship, 2821 S Ash in Perryton. A lunch will be provided for the 12 noon meeting. The program will be given by Laurie McAfee from Area Agency on Aging, covering COVID 19 scams directed at seniors.

PHS awards assembly set

The Perryton High School Awards Assembly will be held Thursday, May 13, at 9 a.m. in the Perryton High School auditorium. Graduating seniors will be awarded with various local scholarships and honors including Who’s Who and Best All-Around.

PHS Class of 1971 sets reunion
