Perryton High School students were honored and recognized Monday night for their academic achievements during the year at the Academic Awards ceremony held in the PHS auditorium. Jacob Schollenbarger was announced as the valedictorian of the Class of 2021, and salutatorian is Jocelyn Medina.

Active COVID-19 cases unchanged

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County held steady this week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 stand at 19, unchanged from last Thursday afternoon.

School board sets special meeting

A special meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Perryton Independent School District will be held Monday, May 10, at 12 noon in the Administration Building, located at 821 SW 17th Avenue.

Senior Citizens Center to hold shrimp boil

The Senior Citizens Center will hold a Summer Kick-Off Party fundraiser on Saturday, May 15, at 6 p.m. at 1200 SW 15th Avenue. The menu will feature a shrimp boil, potatoes, corn, sausage, coleslaw, beans, and bread pudding. Other outdoor activities will include cornhole and horseshoes.

Parkinson’s support group to meet May 14

The Perryton Area Parkinson’s Disease Support Group will meet May 14 at New Hope Fellowship, 2821 S Ash in Perryton. A lunch will be provided for the 12 noon meeting. The program will be given by Laurie McAfee from Area Agency on Aging, covering COVID 19 scams directed at seniors.

Wolf Creek Neighbors to meet

The Wolf Creek Neighbors will meet on Tuesday, May 11 at the Malaney Ranch at 6:30 p.m. Smoked ham will be served. Neighbors are welcome to attend.

PHS awards assembly set

The Perryton High School Awards Assembly will be held Thursday, May 13, at 9 a.m. in the Perryton High School auditorium. Graduating seniors will be awarded with various local scholarships and honors including Who’s Who and Best All-Around.

Wheatheart Wheat Field Day announced

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in Ochiltree and Lipscomb counties will be hosting a wheat field day on Tuesday, May 18. Interested producers will need to gather at the Noon Vela farm, 2.5 miles north FM 759 on County Road 11 at 10 a.m.
