Jonathan Sell of Perryton, Texas, was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective alldiscipline collegiate honor society. Sell was initiated at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

Vandalism, break-in are investigated

Vandalism and a reported burglary topped activity for the week. Alexa Ponce, 221 SE Catalina reported a break-in at her residence, after being notified by a neighbor. When police arrived, some of the suspects had left the scene.

NEW CLERK SWORN IN Jeri Ann McGarraugh was sworn in as the new Ochiltree County Clerk during Monday morning’s meeting of the Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court. McGarraugh, who previously served as a Deputy County Clerk, will take over for Cassi Laxton, who resigned in order to serve as the new dean for Frank Phillips College Allen Campus.

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court appointed a new County Clerk and and accepted donations for the volunteer fire department during their meeting Monday. The commissioners approved the bond and swore in Jeri Ann McGarraugh, as the new County Clerk.
WET AND WILD The Perryton Municipal Water Park has now opened for the summer, and local kids are already taking advantage of the splash pad to get soaked and beat the early summer heat. The regular hours for the water park are Monday through Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. On Sundays, the pool is open from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The park will stay open this summer until July 31.

COVID-19 cases down to one

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County have now fallen to just a single case this week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 stand at one, down from seven last Thursday.
