Active COVID-19 cases still at zero

For the second week in a row, there are still no active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County. The first cases of COVID-19 began appearing in the county in late April of last year.

REMEMBERING THE FALLEN

Drizzly weather greeted attendees of the Memorial Day ceremony, hosted by the Harry P. Stumpf American Legion Post 254 at the Ochiltree County Cemetery on Monday morning. Ochiltree County Judge Charles E. Kelly made the annual Memorial Day address.

Passports

In the Middle Ages, passports were given only to the privileged well-to-do. In 1215, the Magna Carta established that “All merchants are to be safe and secure in leaving and entering England.” One of the earliest U.S. passports on record was issued in France in 1778.

The “ancient world” refers to the time period from 4 million years age to 500 A.D. It is estimated that the first human ancestors appeared in Africa 2.5 million years ago.

At the annual Perryton High School awards ceremony in May, two students in each class were honored as the Best Citizens.
