Perryton residents turned out to watch “A Dog’s Purpose” during the Perryton Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce’s Free Community Movie Night on Thursday evening at the Ellis Theatre.

City’s June sales tax payment dips

The City of Perryton’s sales tax payment for June was down, albeit very slightly. The city received a payment of $212,599, which is .56%, or $1,215 less than June 2020. The city’s year to date payments of around $1.28 million are behind 2020 by a little over 6%.

Oil Patch Tourney to return in July

A longtime Perryton tradition for golfers around the area will return next month. The Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 47 th annual Oil Patch Golf Tournament on July 9-11 at the Perryton Golf Course to honor the oil and gas industry in the Perryton area.

PISD board hires CFO, okays field renovations

In a special meeting at noon on Wednesday, the Perryton School Board hired a new chief financial officer and assistant principal, as well as moved forward with renovations at the softball field. Current Ochiltree County Treasurer Brittney Meraz was hired as the new CFO for the district.

Still only one COVID case in the county

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochil-tree County remain unchanged this week at just a single case. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 stands at one, unchanged from Tuesday afternoon.

Twinkies

Hostess Twinkies were invented in 1931 by James Dewar, manager of Continental Bakeries’ Chicago factory. He envisioned the product as a way of using the company’s thousands of shortcake pans, which were otherwise employed only during the strawberry season.

Blinking Heck

Fish do not have eyelids and therefore cannot blink. The purpose of blinking is to hydrate the eyes; tear ducts produce moisture and blinking spreads the moisture over the surface of the eye. Since fish live in water, they have no need for this.
