Largely because of the delta variant of COVID-19 and a large percentage of unvaccinated Texans, the number of new COVID-19 cases in Texas rose sharply in the past week, with 22,773 new cases reported by the Coronavirus Resource Centerat Johns Hopkins University.

The Perryton City council officially approved a new traffic school zone by Perryton Kinder and Perryton Junior High, and continued review of the proposed 2021-22 budget at its meeting Tuesday evening. The new school zone incorporates the various other school zone ordinances in the city into one.

After a month of no active COVID-19 cases, Ochiltree County’s reprieve is unfortunately over. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 stands at two, up from none over the past 30 days.

OGH updates facility’s COVID-19 visitation policy

Ochiltree General Hospital has altered their visitation policy due to concerns about a possible sudden rise in COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) cases. Patients who are COVID-negative will be allowed one designated visitor.

Summer is in full swing, and that means it’s prime mosquito season again. All it takes is a little moisture in a container to grow mosquitoes. So the City of Perryton is asking all residents for their assistance in the control of these irritating and disease-carrying pests.
