PHS Class of ‘71 holds 50th reunion

The Perryton High School Class of 1971 celebrated its 50 - year reunion in Fort Worth Sept. 17-18. Hosts Ross and Cindy (Byerley) Snell opened their spacious home on Friday night for a meal of made-toorder burgers followed by a gigantic Class of ’71 cookie.

Youth basketball registration begins Registration has begun for Perryton Activity Center Youth Basketball leagues. Divisions are: Pre-K/K, first and second grades, third and fourth grades, and fifth and sixth grades; Pre-K/K will be co-ed, and all others will have separate boys and girls leagues.

Ochiltree County’s COVID-19 cases are continuing their slow rise. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 have risen to 46, up from 40 on Tuesday afternoon.

Ken King cancels Monday’s town hall meetings

District 88 State Representative Ken King has postponed Monday afternoon’s planned town hall meeting in Perryton, citing a need to return to Austin to deal with the border crisis. “As we are all aware, the Biden administration has created a crisis on the border,” King’s press release stated.

Seliger to hold town hall Zoom meeting Tuesday

District 31 State Senator Kel Seliger has scheduled an online town hall meeting for Ochiltree County on Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The online town hall meeting will be held on the Zoom online meeting platform.

PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS

The deadline to enroll in the Pathways scholarship program is approaching quickly, and students at Perryton High School are working to get their applications in before Thursday, Sept. 30. Pathways is open to PHS freshmen and eligible sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

OGH board adops budget, tax rate

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met for their monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 20, in the Ochiltree General Hospital Conference Center.
