New Texas law could save thousands of lives

A new Texas law that will make it easier for businesses and organizations to have Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) will take effect on Thursday, Sept. 1, and could save thousands of lives. The law was passed with unanimous, bi-partisan support.

The 2021 Ochiltree Poultry Show was held on Tuesday evening at the Ochiltree County Expo Center as members of Ochiltree County 4-H brought in poultry to exhibit. PHS senior Austin Merrick brought in several birds for the show, including this Golden Neck d’Uccle, named Dave.

July weather was hot, but did receive quite a bit of moisture

The weather in July was hot, as expected, but the month did also see a large amount of moisture, according to official weather records from KEYE Radio. A total of 3.28 inches of rain fell during July, coming on nine days. They included July 1, .82 of an inch; July 2, 1.57 inches; July 4, .

Active COVID-19 cases are holding steady in county

The number of active COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County is unchanged from the middle of the week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 remains at 28, unchanged from Tuesday afternoon.

Rangers blast Dalhart, 27-6

The Perryton Rangers, powered by a strong first half, took a 27-6 win over Dalhart Friday night in Dalhart. The Rangers dominated the first half, forcing three Dalhart turnovers, all in the first quarter.

Taya Kyle event cancelled

The OGH Healthcare Foundation has announced the cancelation of their October 2021 event featuring Taya Kyle, wife of American sniper and Navy SEAL Chris Kyle.

American Legion to hold monthly meeting

The American Legion Post 254 will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 6, at the Senior Citizen Center. A meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the meeting will begin at 7 p.m. All veterans are welcome to attend.
