PARSPA meeting set The Perryton Area Retired School Personnel Association (PARSPA) will meet Monday, Sep. 13, at noon at the Senior Citizen Center. Members are invited to eat at 11:30 a.m. at the center for $10. “What’s New in Perryton?” by Shawn Campbell will be the program.

Active COVID-19 cases in county are down again

Ochiltree County’s active COVID-19 cases have fallen back to their level from last week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 have fallen to 34, down from 37 on Tuesday afternoon.

City sales tax payment for September is up over 14%

The City of Perryton notched another increase, a nice one, in its monthly sales tax payment. For September, the city received $225,009, up over 14% from last September. For the year so far, the payments of $1.99 million are just 1% lower than in 2020.

Tanya Navarrete crowned 2021 homecoming queen

Tanya Navarrete was named Homecoming Queen during the festivities on Friday at Ranger Field. She is the daughter of Margarita Valenzuela, Oscar Valenzuela and Hector Navarrete. She was escorted by Oscar Valenzuela and Hector Navarrete.

Three trips

The right arm and torch of the Statue of Liberty crossed the Atlantic Ocean three times. It first crossed for display at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition and in New York, where money was raised for the foundation and pedestal.

CrimeStoppers ‘Fast Cash’

On Sept. 9, 2021, the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department had outstanding warrants on the following people: Richard Reed, no personal information was available. Last known address was Pampa. There are three misdemeanor warrants for Reed for issuance of bad checks.

Scams investigated

A case of identity theft and a burglary were investigated by police during the week. A woman contacted the police department after being the victim of apparent identity theft.
