The Perryton Rotary Club has named Perryton High School seniors Emmali Mariscal and Abraham Hernandez as its Students of the Month for October. They, along with their parents, joined the club at its meeting Oct. 7 and were recognized for their achievements.

UNITED WAY DONATION—The Ochiltree United Way received $4,776 as part of its proceeds from the 30th annual Jacky Pierce Charity Classic golf tournament, hosted by the United Family in Lubbock. The event raised $500,000, which was allocated among 28 United Way organizations.

Ranger Band send-off set The Band Boosters will have a send-off for the Ranger Band on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 1:30 p.m., as they head to Amarillo to compete in UIL marching competition. All residents are encouraged to line Main Street with posters and signs wishing them good luck.

KIWANIS DONATIONS DISTRIBUTED—The Perryton Kiwanis Club distributed its annual donations from fundraising activities to local non-profi t groups last week.

City’s sales tax payment takes dip

The City of Perryton’s sales tax revenue did not fare as well in October as it has in previous months. The city received $177,093, with is down 7.8% from last October. For the year, its payments of $2.17 million, though, are down just 1.

County’s COVID-19 cases drop slightly

Ochiltree County’s COVID-19 cases have fallen slightly in the latter part of the week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 have dropped to 66, down from 67 on Tuesday afternoon.
