Meals on Wheels volunteers from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church turned out late last week at Ochiltree General Hospital to gather and organize food trays before making deliveries to clients of the program.

One new death in county attributed to COVID-19

One new fatality from the COVID-19 virus has been added to the rolls in Ochiltree County. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, the new fatality occurred around the date of October 7. The last COVID-29 fatality in the county before that occurred around Sept. 4.

CrimeStoppers ‘Fast Cash’

On Oct. 13, 2021, the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department had outstanding warrants on the following people: Brenda Harjo, white female. No other personal information was available. There are two misdemeanor warrants for Harjo for issuance of bad checks. David Hugh Hernandez, white male.

Rainstorms bring needed moisture to the county

Rainstorms last weekend and Tuesday night brought much-desired precipitation to a bone-dry Ochiltree County. KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total for the weekend was .49 of an inch, with .75 of an inch on Tuesday night, for a total of 1.24 inches.

Stolen bike, damage investigated

A couple of incidents were investigated by police during the week. Daniel Macias, 1822 S. Baylor, reported a hit and run accident to vehicle parked at the residence. The side mirror was broken off, doing around $50 in damage. Craig Schwier, 809 S.

County’s active COVID cases up

Ochiltree County’s active COVID-19 cases have risen slightly from last week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 have risen to 69, up from 66 on Friday afternoon.

Ochiltree County 4-H holds awards annual presentation

Ochiltree County 4-H presented its annual awards celebration at the Expo Center on Monday, Oct. 11. Ochiltree County Judge Charles Kelly presented the Gold Star Awards to Chloe Tanner and Canon Huddleston. The Gold Star Award is the highest county award available to 4-H members.

Commissioners accept resignation of treasurer

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The commissioners accepted a letter of resignation from County Treasurer Britney Meraz, effective Oct. 15.
