One new county death attributed to COVID-19

A new fatality from the COVID-19 virus has been added to the totals in Ochiltree County, bringing the county’s total to 37 deaths. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, the newest fatality occurred around the date of Oct. 17.

City to construct new gas border station on 24th

The Perryton City Council moved forward with plans to build a new natural gas border station during a short meeting at noon on Wednesday. The council approved building the new station and rerouting a gas line to the new station.

United Way drive nears 60%

The 2022 fund drive of the Ochiltree United Way made more headway last week, and is now at 58% of its $92,000 goal. The drive has so far raised $53,366 in donations. Three new 100% Companies also joined the list: FirstBank Southwest, First National Bank and Covenant Title Company.

Estacado takes 31-10 win

The Rangers hosted the Lubbock Estacado Matadors Friday night, and the Matadors took home a big 31-10 district win. It was a tale of two halves. The Rangers played well in the first half, making big plays, and knotting the score at intermission at 10-10.

Perryton High School’s Theatre Department will hold a haunted attraction called “Haunted High School,” where all of PHS will be converted into a haunted house. The event is scheduled for this Saturday, Oct. 23, from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.

10 digit numbers for all calls takes effect Sunday

Local residents, as well as everyone else in the 806 area code for telephones and similar devices should be award that 10 digit call dialing will take effect this Sunday, Oct. 24, even for local numbers. Those 10 digits include the area code, in addition to the local phone number.
