Pre-plant producer meeting set for Jan. 25 in Canyon

The Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service in Randall County will conduct the annual Pre-Plant Producer Conference from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Kuhlman Extension Center, 200 N. Brown Road, Canyon. Experts speaking at a Jan. 25 meeting will help area producers with preplant considerations.

Candidate filing opens Wednesday for city, school, hospital board

Candidate filing begins this Wednesday, Jan. 19, for several positions on the Perryton School Board, Perryton City Council and Ochiltree Hospital District Board. The filing period will run through Friday, Feb. 18. The general election will be held on Saturday, May 7.

County’s COVID cases tumble again

Active cases of COVID-19 in Ochiltree County are down sharply from the middle of this week. According to data from According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 dropped to 57, down from 67 on Tuesday afternoon.

City sees whopping 61% increase in its sales tax payment for January

The City of Perryton got some great news to start off 2022. Its January sales tax payment was 61% higher than the previous January. The city received $271,427 to start off the year.
