American Legion to hold monthly meeting The American Legion Post 254 will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, Feb. 7, at the Senior Citizen Center. A meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the meeting itself will begin at 7 p.m. All veterans are welcome to attend.

Report analyzes record high fertilizer prices

Farmers and economists are wringing their hands on how to get a handle on record-high fertilizer prices heading into the 2022 crop year, and a new report compiled by the Agricultural and Food Policy Center at Texas A&M University suggests prices may not be done going up due to several factors.

County’s COVID cases decline, according to state

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County has had 36 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

FFA, 4-H members to show 150 animals in stock show

The 84th annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is slated for this weekend, Jan. 21-22, with preliminary activities beginning at mid-week. The Perryton High School FFA and the Ochiltree County 4-H members will be showing 150 animals.

School board hears soccer update

The Perryton School Board, at its regular meeting Monday, heard an update on the soccer program and discussed safety. At the beginning of the meeting, soccer players Erick Garcia and Julian Rivero, along with coach Kevin Cummings, talked to the board.

Perryton High School sophomore Tiana Hill has advanced to a level that few can achieve. The alto singer recently advanced through the ranks and was named to the Texas All-State Choir. The highly competitive process is lengthy and filled with top shelf talent.
