Allen-Manning to speak Thursday Betsy Allen-Manning will be the next speaker in the Leadership Perryton XX series. She will be Perryton on Thursday, Jan. 13, at the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus. Registration begins at 6 p.m., with the seminar starting at 6:30 p.m.

Commissioners approve sheriff’s office agreements

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The commissioners formally approved a pair of agreements with the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Office, one concerning law enforcement academies and the other involving sign-on bonuses for new officers.

COVID cases down slightly

Active cases of COVID-19 are down slightly from last week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 dropped to 67, down from 68 on Thursday afternoon.

HILL NAMED TO ALL STATE CHOIR

Perryton High School choir student Tiana Hill was named to the Texas All State Small School Choir last Saturday at Midland Legacy High School in Midland. Hill, a sophomore and alto, placed third chair out of 24 altos following the singing and sight-reading rounds of the competition.

Next weekend’s stock show to spotlight over 150 animals

The 84th annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale is slated for next weekend, Jan. 21-22, with preliminary activities beginning at mid-week. The Perryton High School FFA and the Ochiltree County 4- H members will be showing 152 animals.
