Active cases of COVID-19 in Ochiltree County are up again this week, according to the latest information. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Ochiltree County’s estimated active cases of COVID-19 rose to 80, up from 63 last Tuesday afternoon.

Local volunteers for Snack Pak 4 Kids got together on Monday evening at Williams Intermediate Elementary School to pack snacks for hungry kids. Volunteers meet every few weeks to pack snack bags with nutritious food to help food-insecure students stave off hunger.

The first half of 2021 was again dominated by COVID-19, as well as several severe weather events. Perryton was hit by a once in a generation winter storm in February. Ochiltree County contended with snow and bone-chilling cold for several days.

Rifle and Pistol Club sets annual meeting

The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold itsannual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 6, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Ochiltree County Expo Center. The club will be discussing new and ongoing projects, and new officers will be elected for the new year.

Blood drive set at FPC

Coffee Memorial Blood Center will hold a community blood drive on Tuesday, Jan. 11, from 1-6 p.m. at Frank Phillips College, Allen Campus. Photo identification will be required. Donors must be at least 17 years old, but donors who are 16 may donate with a signed parental consent form.
