While cover crops benefits are proven, Texas A&M AgriLife scientists are finding one size does not fit all relating to their use in the semi-arid regions of the state. What works in the dry, sandy South Plains may not be applicable in the northern High Plains or Rolling Plains.

The 84th annual Ochiltree County Junior Livestock Show and Sale began on Friday morning, with Perryton High School FFA and the Ochiltree County 4-H members showing 150 animals. Among the entrants was Sydney Schickedanz, keeping an eye on both her steer and the crowds in the stands.

Candidate forum set for Feb. 21

A candidate forum featuring the candidates for Ochiltree County Clerk has been scheduled. The event will be held Monday, Feb. 21, beginning at 7 p.m. at the Frank Phillips College Campus. The candidates, incumbent Sandra Limas and challenger, and former County Clerk, Stacy Brown will be featured.

USDA designates primary disaster areas

This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans.
