Courtney Ramsey of Dallas was the latest speaker in the Leadership Perryton series. She spoke on “They Drive Me Crazy: The Generation Story You’ve Never Heard” at the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus on Thursday evening.

Local man dies after vehicle accident

A local man has died after being struck by a bus. Daniel Slaughter, 61, died at the scene of the accident on the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 8. The accident occurred around 7:15 p.m. on State Highway 15, approximately 2.75 miles northwest of Perryton.

Rosales rites set

Juan De La Paz Rosales, 80, of Booker, died Feb. 5, 2022. Funeral mass will be Thursday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Booker with Father Cesar Gomez officiating. Burial will follow in Heart Cemetery. Viewing/visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m.

Perryton High School’s Ranger Robotics Team is heading to regional competition on Feb. 18-19 after winning two major awards last Saturday at the First Lego League First Tech Challenge West and North Texas District Meet.

Quiet week for crime

The wintry weather last week appeared to affect crime as well, as very few offenses were reported or arrests made. Williams Intermediate School had a window on the west side of the main entrance shot out, possibly by a BB or pellet gun. Damage was estimated at $2,000.
