PHS one-act play to be performed The Perryton High School Theatre Department will perform their entry in the UIL One-Act Play contest on Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the PHS Auditorium. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

COVID-19 numbers dropping in county

Ochiltree General Hospital has reported another drop in COVID-19 cases. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, OGH completed 57 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with only seven of those tests positive.

Rotary pie contest winners named

The annual Rotary Cherry Pie Contest was held on Saturday, Feb. 19, with over 100 delicious pies and desserts entered into the competition. Lydia and Violet Nagell of Booker were named the Grand Prize winners and were awarded $100.

County grass fire burns 1,150 acres

Fire crews in Ochiltree and surrounding counties responded to a grass fire on Tuesday that burned 1,150 acres. According to Perryton Fire Chief Paul Dutcher, reports of a grass fire at FM 281 and County Road 23 came in Tuesday morning at 10:40 a.m.

Early voting ends Friday in March 1 primary elections

Voters planning to cast early ballots in the March 1 primary elections have until this Friday, Feb. 25, to do so. In addition to the Republican primary election, the Ochiltree County Clerk’s office is also conducting a Democratic primary election for the Texas Democratic Committee.

School board race gets crowded

At the end of the candidate filing period for the May 7 election last week, several more candidates filed for one of the two positions up on the Perryton School Board for a regular three year term. Karen N. Miller, Jed Symons and Joe Randolph all filed, bringing a total of six candidates.
