FAMILY HONORS—Pam Chisum was named the Citizen of the Year for 2022 at the Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 17, and of course, her family turned out to offer congratulations.

Another COVID death is reported

One new fatality from the COVID-19 virus has been reported this week in Ochiltree County, bringing the county’s total to 46 deaths. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, the newest fatality occurred around the date of Feb, 3.

Perryton High School’s Theatre Department will perform “The Red Suitcase” by Jiggs Burgess, their entry in the UIL One-Act Play contest. The performance is set for Sunday, Feb. 27, at 2:30 p.m. at the PHS Auditorium.

Corporate Citizens of the Year for both 2021 and 2022 were named at this year’s Perryton-Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 17. The Corporate Citizen of the Year for 2021 was the City of Perryton; the Corporate Citizen of the Year for 2022 was Baby Butt’s Barbecue.

Primary elections are this Tuesday

Ochiltree County residents will go to the polls this Tuesday, March 1, to determine the candidates in the Nov. 8 general election. On Tuesday, voting places will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

CrimeStoppers ‘Fast Cash’

On Feb. 23, 2022, the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department had outstanding warrants on the following people: Hector Quinionez, no personal information was available. Last known address was Dumas. There is one misdemeanor warrant for Quinionez for theft of property over $750 but less than $2,500.

PHS robotics team takes first place Promo Award at regional meet

The Perryton High School Ranger Robotics team rounded out its 2021- 22 season by winning the first place trophy Promo Award Saturday, February 19, in Lubbock at the Regional First Tech Challenge Meet.

House burglarized; pickup is stolen

Another house burglary, to the same residence and the theft of a pickup and its contents were investigated during the week. The residence at 1222 S. LaMaster was again the target of burglars. This time taken was a Playstation 2 and miscellaneous items. Estimated value is $300.
