Sales tax holiday for emergency supplies slated for April 23-25

As we enter severe weather season, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans they can purchase certain items tax-free during the state’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies, which begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 25.

Building a “go-kit”

We can’t control when disasters strike, but we can make sure we are prepared. During the Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday this weekend, Texans can pick up essential items for their evacuation go-kits tax-free.

Council amends tower ordinance, okays golf manager

The Perryton City Council amended a recently passed ordinance regarding towers and approved hiring a golf course manager at its meeting Tuesday evening. The ordinance was passed at the council’s March 22 meeting.

School board hears good report on Ranger Roundup

Updates on several projects and activities were given to the Perryton School Board at its meeting Tuesday evening. Technology director Rodney Throgmorton reported on the new phone systems being installed throughout the district.

COVID cases in county still low

The numbers of COVID-19 cases in Ochiltree County remain very low this week. According to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services, the county has had only one new case of the virus in the last 14 days, a decrease of 98% over the prior 14 days.

Dumcum rites held

William Roger Dumcum, 69, of Booker, died April 6, 2022. Services were held Tuesday, April 12, at Overton Cemetery in Beaver County, OK. He was born May 11, 1952 in Dallas, and graduated from Booker High School in 1971. He married Connie Karber on Sept. 6, 2002 in Perryton.

RSVP BANQUET HELD

RSVP BANQUET HELD—The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) held an appreciation banquet for Ochiltree County volunteers on April 5 at the Senior Citizen Center. A number of local volunteers received pins for their years of service.
