Norris to speak Thursday Dr. Shannon Norris of Las Cruces, NM will be the last speaker for Leadership Perryton this Thursday, March 31 at the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus. Registration starts at 6 p.m., and the program will begin at 6 p.m. There is no charge to attend the seminar.

Commissioners approve hiring of staff; hear new hour proposal

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday, March 28, at the County Courthouse. County Judge Charles E. Kelly briefly discussed a plan to adjust the weekly working hours at the courthouse to allow the building to close at 12:30 p.m. on Fridays. The current courthouse hours are 8:30 a.

School board okays purchase of new band uniforms

The Perryton School Board approved the purchase of new high school band uniforms, and heard several resignations at its meeting March 28. PHS band director Michael Munoz, along with several band members and parents spoke to the board about the need for new marching uniforms.

The Ranger powerlifting team captured the state 4A title last weekend in Abilene. Sophomore Jonathan Becerril also notched a state championship in the 114 pound weight class and Coach Casey Arruda was tapped as the 4A state Coach of the Year.

The Ranger powerlifting team has been solid the entire season. Dominance has been the standard for the team at each lifting venue this season. That dominance continued at the state meet on Saturday in Abilene.

JUNE DATE SET—Amy Allred of Amarillo and Randy and Tammy Davis of Perryton announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Claire Davis, to Logan LaMunyon, son of Kim LaMunyon of Perryton and the late Brett LaMunyon. The couple will be married on June 18, 2022, at 6:30 p.m.

Blasingame gives program to Jennie June Club

The Jennie June Club met March 9 at Perry Memorial Library. Hostesses were Betty Penner, Debby Schollenbarger and Donna Mann. The program was given by Megan Blasingame, owner of Blasthetics. She began the business, at 15 SW Fifth Ave., in July 2021.

Medina chosen as PPW Young Careerist

Esmeralda Medina has been selected as the Young Careerist of the Month by the Panhandle Professional Women’s Club. She is a radiologic technologist at Ochiltree General Hospital. Qualifications required for her job are an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a radiography accredited program.
