With the return of spring comes the change to daylight savings time, which begins this Sunday, March 13 at 2 a.m. Unfortunately, the beginning of daylightsaving time also means a lost hour of sleep, as clocks should be set ahead one hour the night before.

Rangerettes make it six straight regional titles

The dominance that is the Rangerette powerlifting team continued in Monahans over the weekend at the Regional Powerlifting Meet. Perryton overwhelmed the competition to win the team title for the sixth year in a row. The Rettes took first place by a whopping 43 points over the second place team.

There were two babies found in the King Cake during our Fat Tuesday shindig. Ironically, Kay Allison and her daughter in law Tosha were the lucky winners. They each will have prosperity and luck for the year, and be treated as queens for the evening.

ELIGIBLE PATHWAYS STUDENTS—Almost 70 students at Perryton High School are currently eligible for Pathways scholarships. Students who earn Pathways scholarships are able to attend Frank Phillips College and receive up to 60 credit hours.

Greatest Jockey

Eddie Arcaro, one of the greatest jockeys in horse race history, rode 250 losers before he won his first race. Ultimately, Arcaro won 4,779 races, including five Derby winners, six in the Preakness and six in the Belmont Stakes, on such famous horses as Whirlaway, Citation and Kelso.
