PHS STUDENTS WIN ART CONTESTS AT OPSU—Art students at Perryton High School participated in the Panhandle Area Art Jubilee at Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, OK, on April 12-14.

PHS track competes at the district meet

Borger High School hosted the two-day District 4-4A track meet last week. Athletes competed to advance to the Area Meet in Lubbock at the Plains Capital Park on April 21. The top four finishers in each event advance. Ranger David Garcia advances in the 110m hurdles after placing third in 15.87.

Residence burglarized

Stolen property cases were investigated by police during the week. A burglary was reported at a residence at 17 S. Fordham. Stolen were a firearm and cash. Total value was $600. Golden Spread Realty, 200 S. Main, reported that the battery for the generator behind the office had been stolen.

American Legion to hold monthly meeting The American Legion Post 254 will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, May 2, at the Senior Citizens Center. A meal will be served at 6 p.m., and the meeting itself will begin at 7 p.m. All veterans are welcome to attend.

Sales tax holiday for emergency supplies slated for April 23-25

As we enter severe weather season, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar reminds Texans they can purchase certain items tax-free during the state’s sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies, which begins at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 23, and ends at midnight on Monday, April 25.

Building a “go-kit”

We can’t control when disasters strike, but we can make sure we are prepared. During the Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday this weekend, Texans can pick up essential items for their evacuation go-kits tax-free.
