Prescribed fire grants applications for Texas Plains region now open

Texas A&M Forest Service is now accepting grant applications for the State Fire Assistance for Mitigation – Plains Prescribed Fire Grant through Aug. 15, 2022. Prescribed fire is the planned application of a low-intensity fire to the landscape by fire and fuel specialists.

Meramec Caverns

Meramec Caverns is the largest commercial cave in the state of Missouri. Known as the “Cave State,” Missouri is home to more than 6,000 surveyed caves. Over the centuries, local tribes of Indians used the caverns as shelter.

Coffee Memorial offering incentives to blood donors in June

With low donor turnout so far this summer, Coffee Memorial Blood Center is offering blood donors an extra incentive on Fridays and Saturdays this month. With school out of session and summer vacations, the donor turnout continues to decrease.

House burglarized

A burglary and an incident of criminal mischief were investigated by police during the week. A residence at 717 Fordham was burglarized. Taken were a Playstation 3, a Playstation 4, a Playstation 1, an iPhone 6, and two gaming headsets. Total value was around $810.
