Kids fishing tourney set for June The Wolf Creek Improvement Board will host a children’s fishing tournament on Saturday, June 4, beginning at 8 a.m. at Lake Fryer. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. at the Pavilion east of the Lobo Restaurant.

EARN DEGREES BEFORE PHS GRADUATION—Three Perryton High School seniors, Araseli Llamas, Natalie Castaneda, and Loreli Castanon, have done something not done before at Perryton High School. They earned associate degrees from Frank Phillips College Allen Campus before graduating from high school.

Rainstorm hits county

Thunderstorms moved through Ochiltree County Tuesday night, bringing rain, wind, and plenty of thunder and lightning. KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total for the county was .46 of an inch.

Perryton High School students were honored and recognized Monday night for their academic achievements during the year at the Academic Awards ceremony held in the PHS auditorium. Included among the honorees were valedictorian Veronica Ontiveros, atleft, and salutatorian Saleen Nyman.

Runoff election for statewide races set May 24

The next opportunity for voters to cast ballots will be the May 24 runoff election for statewide races. Early voting for the runoff elections will be May 16-20. Early voting will be at the Ochiltree County Courthouse, first floor, south office, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., including the noon hour.

Tregellas, Beyea elected; amendments pass easily

Sara Tregellas and Richard Beyea were elected to the Perryton School Board, and both propositions on the ballot passed overwhelmingly locally and statewide in the May 7 election. Tregellas was the top vote getter with 264 votes. Right behind her, Beyea finished with 257 votes.

Local Girl Scouts from Troop 5185, along with prospective Scouts looking to meet new friends, got together Tuesday evening for a scavenger hunt at the Museum of the Plains. Girls received clipboards and lists of items to look for around the museum.
