Forty-four local students received associate degrees or certificates from Frank Phillips College during commencement ceremonies held on the Borger Campus on May 6.

Church of Christ Clothing House open again The Church of Christ Clothing House at 822 S. Drake is again open for business. Hours are Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to noon and 6-7 p.m. and Thursdays, 6-7 p.m. Donations are being accepted.

Texas strawberry season average amid up and down weather

Texas strawberry producers have experienced an average season so far despite freezes, drought and temperature variability impacting yields, according to a Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service expert. The growing season started in October with planting, said Russ Wallace, Ph.D.

City’s sales tax payment is up over 13% in May

The City of Perryton saw another upswing in its sales tax payment in May. The city’s payment of $309,971 was up over 13% from last May. For the year, its total payments of $1.37 million are almost 28.5% higher than 2021. A check of area cities saw all of them also notched an increase for the month.

Early voting starts Monday for runoff

Early voting begins this Monday, May 16, for the May 24 runoff election to decide party nominees in several statewide races. The early voting period runs just one week for the election, May 16-20. Early voting will be at the Ochiltree County Courthouse, first floor, south office, from 8 a.m.-5 p.

When Texas A&M AgriLife, NOAA, the Texas Water Resources Institute, and other organizations were looking for someone to build educational models of Texas river basins to demonstrate how nonpointsource pollution travels through state waterways, they came to Perryton resident Paul Bond.

OGH still reporting no new cases

COVID-19 cases are still very low in Ochiltree County. Ochiltree General Hospital reported no new cases of the virus this week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, OGH completed 27 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with no positive cases.
