Perryton water park to open May 29

The Perryton Municipal Water Park will open for the summer on Sunday, May 29, from 2-6 p.m. The regular hours for the water park are Monday through Saturday from 1-7 p.m. On Sundays, the pool is open from 2-6 p.m.

County continues to show low COVID cases

Ochiltree County’s COVID-19 numbers are remaining very low. Ochiltree General Hospital reported no new cases this week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, OGH completed 26 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with no positive cases.

Inmate dies in county jail

An inmate in the Ochiltree County Jail died on Thursday. County inmate Billy Joe Spann, 50, died while incarcerated at the jail, according to Ochiltree County Sheriff Terry Bouchard..

Thunderstorm brings rain, lots of noise to county

Ochiltree County residents were awakened Wednesday night by a very loud and flashy thunderstorm that poured a decent amount of precipitation into area rain gauges. KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total for the county was .83 of an inch of rain.

Runoff election is slated for Tuesday

Ochiltree County voters will once again go to the polls this Tuesday, May 24, to decide, along with other voters across the state, several statewide runoff races. By mid-afternoon on Friday, the last day of early voting in the election, some 111 voters had cast ballots.

Burglary investigated

Stolen items and vandalism topped activity for the week. Cal Energy, 119 N. Main, was burglarized. Taken were an HP computer, an internet router and a security camera. Total value was estimated at around $1,400. Several sheets of sheet metal were stolen from 414 NE Ash. They were valued at $230.

Lawn and Garden Expo set May 21

The Texas A&M Agri-Life Extension Service in Randall County will host a Lawn and Garden Expo on May 21. The event will be from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the courthouse square in downtown Canyon. Admission is free, and those planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs.
