Weekend showers bring scattered rain

Widely scattered rain showers brought only a little rain to Ochiltree County this weekend. KEYE Radio’s official rainfall total recorded only a trace of moisture.

COVID cases hold steady in county

COVID-19 results from Ochiltree General Hospital are unchanged since last week. According to Chief Nursing Officer Jyme Kinnard, RN, Ochiltree General Hospital completed 68 total COVID-19 tests in the last seven days, with 13 positive cases, unchanged from last week.

Rifle and Pistol Club sets monthly meeting The Perryton Rifle and Pistol Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, Sept. 1, at 7 p.m. at the indoor range south of the Expo Center. The club will be discussing new and ongoing projects.

Vandalism reported

A couple more cases of criminal mischief and a theft were investigated by police during the week. A red three wheel adult tricycle was stolen from 918 S. Colgate. It was valued at $400. A vehicle had the back window shot out with a BB or pellet gun at 1405 Amherst. Damage was estimated at $200.

Thyroid conditions part 2: Hyperthyroidism

While dogs are more likely to develop hypothyroidism, caused by an underproduction of thyroid hormones, cats are more likely to develop hyperthyroidism, caused by an overproduction of thyroid hormones. Hyperthyroidism is the opposite of hypothyroidism in many ways and has vastly different symptoms.

Wheatheart parade winners announced

The annual Wheatheart of the Nation Celebration parade was held Saturday morning on Main Street, where thousands of county residents turned out to enjoy the show. The Perryton Ochiltree Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the best entries in the parade.

Hospital board discusses proposed ad valorem tax rate

The Ochiltree County Hospital District Board of Directors met on Monday evening in the conference center at Ochiltree General Hospital. The board released the 2023 proposed budget and the proposed ad valorem tax rate.
