Friendship Quilt Guild presents 16 Quilts of Honor

The Friendship Quilt Guild presented 16 Quilts of Honor to military veterans on Oct. 20 at Community Worship Center. The guild became involved with Quilts of Valor in 2005, making quilts and giving them to other groups for distribution. The guild began presenting quilts locally in 2014.

United Way 2023 campaign stands at 56% of goal

The Ochiltree United Way’s 2023 campaign added more donations by the end of last week. So far, the drive has raised $53,176, which is 56% of the $94,300 goal. One new 100% Company, First National Bank, was also added to the list, bringing the total to 12.

Early voting ends Friday for Nov. 8 general election

After the first week of early voting in the Nov. 8 general election, voter turnout has beensteady during the first week. By around noon on Friday, there were 401 people who had cast early ballots in the election. Early voting began Oct. 24, and will run through Friday, Nov. 4.

The Perryton School Board had a full agenda for its meeting Oct. 25. The board heard a presentation from Assistant Superintendent Dr. Maria Gomez-Rocque on Social Emotion Learning (SEL) and Critical Race Theory (CRT). Dr.
Ochiltree County 4-H recently elected their new Ambassadors for 2022-23. 4-H Ambassadors help promote Ochiltree 4-H in the community, through a number of events and projects, including the Wheatheart Celebration parade, Family Fun Nights, 4-H recruitment nights, the county junior livestock show and sale, and more.
