Drama Club prepares Haunted High School

Perryton High School’s Drama Club is making preparations for their annual ‘Haunted High School’ this Saturday, Oct. 22. Doors at the El Rancho area will open at 6 p.m. on Saturday with tickets for $6 per person, or $5 for those in costumes.

Archaeology Day set at museum

The Museum of the Plains will host Archaeology Day on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event, the first of its kind at the museum, was set up to help commemorate October as Archaeology Month in the State of Texas.

As PHS Drama Department members make their preparations for the annual Haunted High School event, starting this Saturday at 6 p.m. at the high school. Students are practicing their makeup skills, inflicting artificial wounds, scars, bruises, and bloody bite marks on their fellow classmates.

John Nimmo of Carbondale, IL was the first speaker in the Leadership Perryton series this year. He spoke on learning to communicate effectively at the Frank Phillips College Allen Campus on Tuesday evening. The seminar was sponsored by Interstate Bank and Lemon, Shearer, Phillips and Good.

Oct. 17 is IRS income tax extension deadline

The Internal Revenue Servicereminds taxpayers who requested an extension to file their 2021 tax return to do so by Monday, Oct. 17. While Oct. 17 is the last day for most people to file a Form 1040 to avoid the late filing penalty, those who still need to file should do so as soon as possible.
