Toys for Tots to hold Turkey Trot Toys for Tots will hold a Turkey Trot 5K run to raise funds to buy toys. The Turkey Trot is set for Saturday, Nov. 19, across from Ochiltree General Hospital. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., with the run to begin at 8 a.m. The cost to enter is $25 per person.

Just a few offenses were investigated by police during the week. A 2010 GMC Yukon had the wiring on the engine damaged while parked at 400 N. Main. A vehicle was also egged while parked in the high school parking lot. A dog bite was also reported on North Main.

O negative blood donors needed due to supply chain issues

Coffee Memorial Blood Center is losing hundreds of O negative blood units a month due to recent blood bag shortages. O negative is the only universal blood type, which means it can be transfused in an emergency to any blood recipients, regardless of their blood types.

We all had such a fun and informative time during Saturday’s Gun 4 Girls class. It was a full class taught by NRA instructor Karen Schrader from Amarillo. She did a wonderful job with all of us newbies, and even taught the more skilled Annie Oakley’s a few new tricks.

City of Perryton’s sales tax payment takes slight dip

The City of Perryton’s sales tax payment for November took a slight drop this month, after several months of increases. The city received a payment of $275,601, down a little over 2% from November 2021. For the year, however, its $3 million in payments so far are 22.5% higher than in 2021.

Toys For Tots is back this holiday season to help the less fortunate children in Ochiltree, Hansford, and Lipscomb Counties, and they are asking for the community’s help this year.

PHS HOLDS ANNUAL VETERANS DAY PROGRAM Perryton High School’s annual Veterans Day program brought together veterans from recent campaigns in the Middle East all the way back to World War II. In addition to presentations recognizing every veteran attendee, there was also a special presentation focusing on Perryton’s two remaining veterans of World War II, Ernest Barclay and John B. Hardy. Commissioners approve sign-on bonus for new deputy

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday, Nov. 14, at the Ochiltree County Courthouse. The commissioners approved a $3,600 sign-on bonus for a new deputy in the Ochiltree County Sheriff’s Department. The deputy is required to work for the county for 36 months after being hired.
