City sales tax payment up

The City of Perryton’s sales tax allocation for December showed another healthy increase. The city’s payment of $247,580 was up a little over 8% from last December. For the calendar year, its total payments of $3.25 million were up 21% from 2021.

The Ochiltree County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday morning, Dec. 12, in the Ochiltree County Courthouse. Among other items on the agenda, the commissioners presented the annual employee awards to county staff members.

United Way drive fund drive goes over the top

The Ochiltree United Way fund drive went over the top this week with a big donation effort in the oil and gas division. The drive has now raised $96,494, which is 102% of the $94,300 goal. One new 100% Company, Valero Terminating & Distribution joined the list, bringing the total to 21 so far.

Even though it’s the Christmas season, autumn is still here and leaves are continuing to fall across the state, building up and around homes and yards. Fallen leaves have many benefits to the ecosystem when left alone but can also become a wildfire hazard if they remain in the wrong places.

Museum parking moved to south side The parking lot area at the Museum of the Plains is currently having work done on it, and museum visitors are asked to use the parking on the south side of the building, by the Brillhart room. The museum will remain open during construction.

Lawmakers sign NDAs to obtain Uvalde info

A half-dozen Texas lawmakers signed nondisclosure agreements to obtain investigative records from the Texas Department of Public Safety concerning the May shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde that have thus far been kept secret from the public.
