PHS students are inducted into NHS

Perryton High School’s chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS) inducted almost 40 new members into the organization. The National Honor Society is a national organization dedicated to recognizing high school students who have attained high levels of academic achievement.

Standard time returns this Sunday, Nov. 6, at 2 a.m., so remember to set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday evening. The return to Standard time also means an extra hour of sleep.

Perryton High School’s Drama Club has scheduled two public performances of Pat Cook’s “You Have the Right to Remain Dead,” a frantic murder-mystery/comedy with audience participation.

PHS sets annual Veterans’ Day program Nov. 11

Perryton High School will honor veterans of Perryton and the surrounding area with a special program on Friday, Nov. 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the Perryton High School auditorium. Registration, check-in, and coffee and muffins for all veterans will be at 9 a.m. on the morning of the program.

Coats for Kids begins its 22nd year

FirstBank Southwest is kicking off its 22nd year of sponsoring a community project geared toward children during the Christmas holidays. This year, the bank will again sponsor its “Coats and Shoes for Kids” drive in November and early December. Coats and Shoes for Kids began in the fall of 2001.

Seminole comes to town on Friday

The Rangers will host their final regular season district game this Friday, when the Seminole Indians come to town. The Indians are so far unbeaten in district with a 3-0 record, and are 8-1 overall.

Senior Village trick or treat set Senior Village’s annual Trick or Treat has been scheduled for Monday, Oct. 31, from 6-7 p.m. Kids are invited to come out to Senior Village at 3101 S. Main Street in costume for tricks and treats (mostly treats).

Kids in first and second grade classes at Wright Elementary School made book report pumpkins with their families this past week. Students wrote a short report on a favorite book, then they and their families painted and decorated pumpkins to depict that book.
